As I write this, we are about 45 minutes away from tipoff in the Illinois-Indiana grudge match.
Naturally, all the media focus will be on Indiana guard Eric Gordon, who infamously backed out of a verbal commitment to Illinois to attend Indiana. Essentially, little innocent E.J. is now persona non grata in Champaign. He'll be booed mercilessly every time he touches the ball.
As an Illinois fan, I've been told many times by IU fans and others to "let it go" whenever the topic of Gordon comes up. Believe me, I would love to let it go. Unfortunately, everytime Illinois appears on ESPN, the announcers rehash the Gordon situation, reminding us that the Illini are struggling this season because the freshman phenom did not honor his commitment to Bruce Weber.
Nearly every analysis piece or game story I've read pertaining to Illinois and its woes this year has made mention of Gordon. I'd like to think I would be able to "let it go," if others would stop reminding me of the situation.
You want me to let it go? Then you let it go!
