The only thing I don't like about Opening Day is the overanalysis of a single game that counts as just one of 162.
But I'll admit that Octavio Dotel's horrendous performance in the Sox 10-8 loss to Cleveland Monday bothers me.
The bases are loaded with two outs, and he's got a 1-2 count on Cleveland's No. 9 hitter, Casey Blake. Instead of trying to make a quality pitch, he just grooves one. Blake delivers a 3-run double, turning a 7-7 tie into a 10-7 Indians lead.
Lately, Sox GM Kenny Williams has fallen into a habit of picking up former Kansas City relievers. Mike MacDougal was terrible for the Sox last year. Andrew Sisco was also horrible, and got sent down to Triple-A Charlotte midseason.
Now comes Dotel with his gas can. He is the latest in a long line of Royal arsonists to join the White Sox.
Kansas City is the worst team in our division. And they let all these guys go. That should tell you something.
