In this line of work, one often has to spend Saturday night at the office. That will be the case for me this week. The one benefit from that: I get Wednesday off. I spent yesterday afternoon at the Sox-Rangers game.

The Sox entered Tuesday night's game with the Texas Rangers having lost three in a row and six out of their last eight. Most people blame slumping first baseman Paul Konerko. The real problem is the pitching staff.

The Blackhawks will open the season Oct. 10 in the Big Apple against the New York Rangers. The home opener will be Oct. 13 against Nashville.

The University of Illinois has announced the start times for the majority of its 2008 football games. Pass the caffeine.

With Tuesday's come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians, the White Sox have now won 16 of their last 18 homes games. That record will be put to the test this week, as the Sox will face a series of good pitchers.

Today is July 1st, and that means NHL teams can start signing free agents. Blackhawks GM Dale Tallon isn't messing around. He's already made two huge acquisitions.
