The NHL changed the scheduling format this year. The Hawks will play their division rivals six times now, instead of eight. This is a welcome change for fans who are sick of seeing the Nashville Predators and Columbus Blue Jackets all the time.
For the first time in awhile, every team plays one another. Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins visit the UC on Feb. 27, a game sure to be a big draw.
The schedule favors the Hawks down the stretch. Sixteen of the final 25 games will be at home. If they can survive an eight-game road trip in February, they should be in good shape to make the playoffs.
