Tribsters just can't quit the Cubbies

I was looking over the Tribune sports section today, and it seemed like all the World Series coverage was Cub-related. Hey, idiots, your team got eliminated three weeks ago!

Let's see here: The Tribune sports cover features a column by Steve Rosenbloom, speculating that Bob Brenly might leave the broadcasting booth to manage the Milwaukee Brewers.

OK, I can live with that. There's some news value there. But how do you explain Mike Downey's stupid column about a hypothetical World Series between the Rays and Cubs? Memo to Downey: Retire, take a buyout, go back to the L.A. Times, whatever. Just go away. You are terrible.

Turning inside the paper, we have a story where former Cubs GM Dallas Green is interrogated. Green, now a senior adviser to Phillies GM Pat Gillick, says he does not feel sorry for the Cubbies after their putrid showing in the playoffs.

Now, let's think about that. Why the hell should Dallas Green feel sorry for the Cubs? They fired him years ago, and Green's current team is in the World Series. If anything, he should be gloating.

Generally, why should anyone feel sorry for the Cubs more than the other 28 teams that are currently not playing? The Cubs had their chance. They blew it.

Green did have one amusing quote, however: "....I got fired in 1987, and in '89 they went to the World Series." Umm, not quite. The '89 Cubs got whacked in the NLCS by the Giants, who got whacked in the World Series by the steroid-laden A's.

The Trib also graces us with a "World Series bits" where former Cubs outfielder Cliff Floyd relays a conversation he had with Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster about what it would have been like if the Rays and Cubs had met in the World Series.

Gack.

Hey, Tribsters! Your "house organ" got beat by the 84-win Dodgers. Hurry up and sell the Cubs already, and in the meantime, just cover the teams that actually are in the World Series, please.

Well gee what do you expect?

Newspapers will always cover a World Series from a local angle. You see this around the country. It ain't just the Chicago Tribune. The New York Daily News have been covering ex-Yankees and ex-Mets in the World Series so far. Grow up and get over it.

I didn't see anything in the Tribune's World Series coverage about the White Sox. Last I checked, the Sox are just as local as the Cubs.

Timberwolf telling me to grow up. That's rich. You have no life whatsoever. All you do is troll the internet and talk up your hatred for Chicago.

Seriously, I think you need to seek help to get over your hate.

BTW, your Twins still suck and so do your Gophers.

Were there any ex-White Socks on the World Series? I did not think so therefore there was no reason for the Chicago Tribune to cover this on the ex-White Sox angle.

You do realize the Gophers are going to a bowl game on January 1st and you do realize the Gophers did beat Illinois in Illinois' homecoming game few weeks ago? That was funny. Illinois scheduled the Gophers on Illinois' homecoming day with the idea that the Illinois was going to win. It didn't happen. Illinois is having quite a season. Enjoy that flash in the pan season from last year because those days are over.

Oh and did you saw how the Wild embarassed the Blackhawks the other night at St. Paul? I love how Blackhawks fans like to create rivalries when in reality, there is no rivalry with them with any team in the NHL. The other night at the Xcel Energy Center, the fans did not even bother to boo, scream, throw stuff, or anything. They sat in their hands. Wanna know why? Because they don't take the Hawks seriously like they did during the North Star days. I also find it hilarious that Hawks fans like to chant DE-TROIT SUCKS. It makes Hawks fans dumb just doing that. Red Wings fans don't take the Blackhawks seriously. In fact, no NHL team does. The Hawks are nothing more than wannabes.

When the Hawks reach to the level of the Wild or any other team, then Hawks fans can talk. Until then, they should shut up and go away.

You think the Gophers are going to a Jan. 1 bowl?

Maybe, but Northwestern, without its starting quarterback and without its starting running back, just won at Minnesota. The Gophers suck. They are a product of a weak Big Ten and nothing else.

The Blackhawks outskated the Wild the other night. Minnesota's goaltender gets the credit for those two points. I haven't exactly seen the Wild competing for any Stanley Cups lately.

Oh, and Gopher basketball has now lost 23 consecutive times to Illinois, just in case you lost track.

Oh, what was the score on Sept. 30? Oh, yeah, that's right. White Sox 1, Twins 0.

Let me guess this straight, genius. If the Gophers great season are a product of a weak Big 10, I guess you feel the same way for Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, and Northwestern's success. You fit the description of an idiotic Chicago sports fan so well. If a Chicago sports team fails, pile on other teams for being so damn lucky or fortunate of playing in a bad division in a bad year. I remember once when the Bulls beat the Knicks in 1994, Bulls fans whined about how Hue Hollins helped the Knicks. You must have been one of those idiots too and I'm sure. This is exactly why I hate Chicago sports fans in general.

If the Gophers win the rest of the schedule, they go to a January 1st game. Yesterday's loss does not change that. As for Northwestern, they are not a Chicago team. They play in Northwest Indiana. People in Chicago only care about Illinois and Notre Dame football so I am not going to get wound up about losing to Northwestern.

Blackhawks outshooting the Wild? What color is the sky in your world? I must have missed it. What I saw was the Wild bullying the Hawks' overhyped kids and how the Hawks did not generate any offense in the second and third period. Hawks looked like a soft team that night, which is not surprising since they are mentally soft. I laugh when everyone was overhyping the Hawks. The Hawks have long ways to go until they are taken seriously. When they play defense and play like a professional franchise, I will take them seriously.

As for the Wild, last time I checked, they are in their eighth year in the NHL. Of all the expansion teams that came in the late nineties, the Wild have the most success of all. Let's see they went to the Western Conference Finals in 2003 and they made the playoffs in the last two years. When the Hawks reach that type of success, then talk to me. Like I said, the Wild don't even take the Hawks seriously and their fans basically have no reaction when the Hawks are in town.

As for Game 163, MLB screwed the Twins by giving the home-field advantage to Chicago. No way in hell the Twins were going to get home-field. If you thought there was actually a coin-flip, then you must believe in Santa Claus. Besides that game really does not mean much now since the Bitch Sox lost in the first round to the Rays. This is the same franchise that wanted to contract the Twins with Jerry Reinsdorf leading the way. In my mind, there is an asterisk on this year's AL Central winners.

The above post was approved just so readers can see that you really have no life.

Remember, I own this blog and your comments are posted only at my pleasure.

What the hell is wrong with this guy? Timberwolf, you are a f'n tool who should've been been on that bridge in July of 07. FYI, Scott Eyre is an ex White Sock. So yeah, the Sox did have a former player involved in the WS. Plus, The Bull is still involved with the Phillies and he was an ex Sock too. So shut your face. 2005>1991. Plus we swept our WS, you guys were stretched to the limit by both Atlanta and St Louis. So you suck.

I also think it's gonna be idiotic for you guys to be out in the freezing cold at Target Field in April when there is a nice warm dome you can be playing in instead. How stupid. F you!

While I'm glad to see some conversation being generated here, please keep the profanity out of the personal insults.

Thanks.

Whitesox pwn the Cubs: Thanks for responding to Jason's Take. Anytime anyone can respond to me or anyone at his blog, it's a good thing. Jason Bauman is a great guy with good ethics.
