Urlacher.jpg Might as well cancel the season. The Bears are destined for 4-12. Former Bear and current Minnesota Vikings receiver Bobby Wade says Brian Urlacher called Jay Cutler a "pussy." Team chemistry has been ruined forever.

Oh, God, please, no. Anything but that. Will life as we know it continue?

Normally, I hate these kinds of stories because they are completely irrelevant in pro sports. This isn't the California Penal League, Vaughn. They don't tank games for personal reasons. Even if Urlacher and Cutler hate each others guts, they are still going to try to win on fall Sundays. In NFL locker rooms, no one cares about anyone else's feelings.

But this particular story amuses me because of Urlacher's response. What say you, Urlacher?

"Oh please. I don't think I would ever say that about one of my teammates," Urlacher said. "Look, Bobby Wade's a friend of mine. He's trying to get things going before training camp. That's just Bobby being Bobby. I'm pretty sure Jay knows I wouldn't say that about him."

Bobby being Bobby? Are you serious? Bobby Wade is nobody. He doesn't have enough status in the league to be referred to as "Bobby being Bobby." Has Bobby Wade been involved in any other hijinks lately that we should know about? Ah, that pesky Bobby Wade! Always involved in some kind of mischief.

You know what Urlacher should have done. He should have said, "Yeah, I called Cutler a 'pussy.' So what? What are you gonna do about it?" That probably would be the end of the story. Now, it will get blown out of proportion and we'll hear about this alleged "feud" for all of training camp. Yay.

Isn't it interesting how controversy follows The Great White Hope (my nickname for Cutler)?

Everyone knows that Brian Anderson is The Great White Hope.

Isn't Brian Anderson the Great American Hero?

Brian Anderson was Ozzie's white chocolate

Brian Anderson is both The Great White Hope and The Greatest American Hero. There really is no limit to his greatness.

I read Jay Mariotti's take on what happened between Cutler and Urlacher, and it was insightful and educational.

The Great White Hope is no angel when it comes to alienating people whether it's his own team or the enemy, but The Great White Hype (my nickname for Urlacher) needs to shut up and start playing football. For the last few years, The Great White Hype have done nothing but steal money from Da Bears. He has underperformed, and it looks like his best days are behind him. Since that no-show in that Super Bowl, the Great White Hype have done nothing. This is like HEATHERFROMCHICAGO stealing money at a public school she teaches, which she pretends to teach math and her students get nothing out of their education.

It would be nice this season if the Great White Hype just start playing football this year. I always wondered why Urlacher gets too much attention. If he was black, he would be nothing more than a role player, but since he is white and he is good, the league needs to market him.

I agree with Jay that the Great White Hype may be insecure about the Great White Hope's popularity, and that's why there is insecurity on Great White Hype's part.

Click on the link underneath my name for Jay's opinion.

No thanks, I'll take a pass. I'm quite sure Jay doesn't give me any Web hits, so I'm certainly not going to read his crap.

Via Chicago Bears Text Alerts: "Cutler, Urlacher deny rift"

Good enough for me, next.

Agreed.

Great. They denied it. So it's all over, right?

Anyone that think the feud betweeen the Great White Hope and the Great White Hype is over is probably a person that knows nothing about sports.

These are grown men, not seventh-grade girls. Anyone who thinks this is going to be a major factor in the Bears season probably doesn't know much about sports.

Do we have a problem Timberwolf?

I sure do, Brian.

Why don't you go shut your mouth and stop banging out with broads and start earning your salary? I have been tired of reading about you for years nevermind you have won as much as me. You are an embarrassment to your profession the way HEATHERINCHICAGO is with her teaching profession to those poor little kids in high school, who have learned nothing with her as their teacher.

JB: I have seen grown men let their disputes get the best out of them in sports. Shaq and Kobe were grown men back then, and the feud was so bad that one had to go when all was said and done. I covered athletes that hate each other in high school sports, and it's never pretty. It takes a toll in sports just like it would take a toll in any setting.

Shaq and Kobe produced three championships. I would take that from Cutler and Urlacher.

As far as this baloney about people being an embarrassment to his/her profession, the name that immediately comes to mind is Jay Mariotti.

Oh, and your comparison about high school sports doesn't fly either. High schoolers are not grown men. Many of them are immature and stupid.

How was Mariotti an embarrassment to his profession?

If him ripping Chicago sports teams is an embarrassment to his proession, then he must have done many things right.

All I know is Sun-Times made plenty of money when Mariotti was writing, and there was a site that is named after Mariotti called JaytheJoke so he must have done something right.

Most Chicago sportswriters especially columnists never ever criticize a Chicago sports team. It's all sunshine and lollipops with those guys. When Mariotti, Greg Couch and Mike Downey (his last column will always be special to me), they told like it is and they were kissing up to no one. Give me that over sportswriters who will kiss someone's behind for a quote or a story.

Rick Telander comes to mind when it comes to embarrassment to his profession. His writings are stale and boring, and I am amazed he was not suspended for accusing Ryan Theriot for using steriods. Heck even the Detroit News got tired of Rob Parker's act by falsely accusing someone to the point he was fired by the paper.

Jay is just a bad person. No one in the industry respects him.

Timberwolf only liked Jay the Joke because he talked down to Chicago sports or as he calls it "telling it like it is". And that's the ONLY reason

Of course, "telling it like it is" means misinterpreting facts and people's words, so that they mesh with one's preconceived notions. That's basically the schtick.

maybe we should start Timberwolftheidiot.com

whitesox901: You realize the JaytheJoke site mocks Jay Mariotti, right. I showed you that board last month. If you go look under the message board (scroll down and look for JaytheJoke under theGarbageDump), it will feature a board where bunch of internet creatures rip on Jay's columns on AOL Fanhouse.

Another thing. I am not even well-liked at JaytheJoke.com. I trolled there when Pat Dahl (the son of radio personality Steve Dahl) came out with that site which I defended Jay Mariotti, and I became Public Enemy #1 over there. Guys still talk about me over there. You ought to join in the discussion.

Just type in "CPK", which is me, and you will get all sort of responses.

When I said you liked "Jay the Joke", I was not refering to the website, I was referring to Mr. Mariotti

So now Brian Urlacher is taking shots at Gail Sayers for calling Urlacher and Da Bears? Urlacher cited what has Sayers won. I got a better question.

What exactly has Urlacher won in his life? He had good career, but he is not a great player. Urlacher came up lame in playoff games. In the Super Bowl, the Colts OL exposed Urlacher as a fraud. Urlacher was beaten up in that game. He was the reason why Da Bears lost that game. He was as bad as Rex Grossman. Then, Urlacher backed up his poor play by stealing money these last few years.

Maybe Urlacher should stop worrying about what others say and just play football. He should start being healthy and start getting back to the level he was.
