Billy the Marlin places curse on Cubs

| | Comments (1) | TrackBacks (0)

billygoat.jpg Billy the Marlin paraded a goat in front of the Cubs dugout Friday night during the opener of the three-game set between the North Siders and the Florida Marlins. Billy scores zero points for originality, but he succeeded in pissing Lou Piniella off.

Did the gag work? Well, Florida did win two out of three games in the series, including a stunning turn of events yesterday as Dan Uggla and Cody Ross hit homers on back-to-back pitches off Kevin Gregg to turn a 2-1 Cubs lead into a 3-2 Marlins victory.

Cubs keep showing why they are losers.

For Lou Piniella to whine about this stuff, it just shows me he is more interested in worrying about petty matters instead of worrying about managing a baseball club, which still stinks despite the fact they are within striking distance for first place. Why would a manager worried about this stuff is beyond me? I thought Lou was above this stuff. I guess being a Cubbie has gotten to him.

And no, the gag did not work. The Marlins won because they are a better team not to mention the Cubs relievers are horrible. Their closer stinks, and their setup guy ain't better. I gain a good appreciation for Matt Karchner and Mike Sirotka being the glue guys to Roberto Hernandez during the Terry Bevington days.

It has nothing to do with a silly curse.
