It's Dattolo, not Dotel

Dattolo-ABN-052212.jpgBy all accounts, it's been a tough year for West Aurora High School's baseball team. The Blackhawks have struggled to a 12-24 record, but one of the bright spots has been the performance of pitcher Ottavio Dattolo.

The right-hander (pictured above) has pitched better than his 4-7 record indicates, and he tossed a complete game Monday as West Aurora upset Waubonsie Valley 5-4 in the quarterfinals of the Class 4A Waubonsie Valley Regional.

Whenever I read a story about Blackhawk baseball this spring, I always do a double take when I see Dattolo's name. He immediately makes me think of this former White Sox reliever with a remarkably similar name:

I always have to remind myself that, no, Octavio Dotel does not pitch for West Aurora.

Ottavio, I'm pretty sure we've gotten your name right in the paper all season. At least I hope we have. The last thing we'd ever want to do is get you confused with Dotel.
