North Aurora is acting like a teenage girl who turns down a prom date and then gets jealous when the same guy asks one of her friends to the dance.
When Wal-Mart came calling, trustees thought surely there is someone better out there for North Aurora. But now maybe that first invitation doesn't look so bad after all.
With rumors swirling about the retail giant courting Aurora after being rejected by North Aurora, village trustees are bemoaning the potential loss in tax revenue. To make matters worse, Wal-Mart might locate in Aurora but use North Aurora water and sewer services. Talk about a snub.
But hey, North Aurora wanted to date the prom king. Hopefully the village won't end up sitting at home alone without any suitor at all.
All N.Aurora concerns aside, what's going to happen to Galena Blvd. in Aurora if another Walmart is built? We already have a vacant Cub Foods. Can we sustain two Walmarts so close? I live between the two and more and more find myself heading to N.A. and Target, despite Target's higher prices, because I can take care of those needs in a single direction with groceries @ Woodmans and pet supplies @ Petco. What will happen to all the smaller stores along Galena (and the tax money) if Aurorans go the extra mile to consolidate their shopping?
