How many lawyers does it take ... ?

UPDATE (Sept. 20): A federal judge will allow the clinic to remain closed while the city completes its review.

It sounds like the start of a bad joke: How many lawyers does it take to find out if Planned Parenthood was deceptive or fraudulent during the city of Aurora approval process?

In the latest twist, Kane County State's Attorney John Barsanti will review the reviews of two independent attorneys hired by the city who later turned out to have conflicts of interest. It has now been more than three weeks since the city announced its investigation.

All of this might be pointless, too, if a federal judge rules Thursday that the city cannot delay the clinic's opening.

Barsanti has vowed a quick review of the two reports, but this is taking far longer than it should. The mayor's office and City Council should have been more careful about their initial selections; now it just looks like they're dragging their feet. An honest and truly independent review of the approval and permit processes is important, but this is getting a little ridiculous.

If the judge rules in Planned Parenthood's favor tomorrow and the clinic opens Friday, it'll be interesting to see the city's next legal move if the review does turn up fraud. City officials would be in a far better position to argue their case if they had the review in hand.

Hopefully Barsanti moves quickly enough for these expensive legal reviews to actually make a difference.

I am outraged at the City of Aurora and the judge's decision to not allow Planned Parenthood to open their medical facility on time. This is a legitimate medical office offering LEGAL services. Why aren't these pro-lifers protesting outside Dreyer Medical Clinic - they offer vasectomies. Why not protest outside CVS on a daily basis - they dispense birth control pills. Planned Parenthood is about so much more than abortions - safe, legal, much needed medical care for females. The City of Aurora completely caved to the extremists on this issue.... HOW DARE THEY!

Aurora, IL. Local environmental groups recoiled in horror when it was learned today that the large factory-like structure built by Aquarius Development Partners LLC was in fact built for BP Amoco to use as an oil refinery. The refinery, which sits on the north end of Aurora, will dump a variety of toxins into the Fox River, environmentalists claim, thus polluting the water supply for the city of Aurora whose wells are further downstream.

"Nonsense" said JR Ewing of BP, "we have a long history of providing much needed jobs for the community and these protesters are just rabid environmentalist extremists."

Mayor Weisner could not be reached for comment as he was sailing in his new boat, the SS Sweet Crude which he received as gift from an anonymous donor. Through his spokesbabe, though, his office expressed shock and distress at the revelation. "Neither the mayor nor his cron, er, associates had any idea that Aquarius was really a front for BP" said the spokeslady who was suddenly sporting an unusual Texas drawl.

Groups of Anti-Job activists plan to storm city council and one old lady is expected to stand up and simply sing "Imagine."

This is the Fox News special regarding Planned Parenthood in Aurora. This will give insight as to just how deceiving and evil this organization is.

Thank you to everyone in Aurora who is fighting to keep this so called clinic out of our community.

Aurora has the chance to send a positive message to the youth of our city. If we can show them that we respect the unborn and will not allow their lives to be brutally ended, there is a chance that these same youth may just start respecting themselves and eachother.
It is quite difficult to preach to these young people and tell them how horrific and wasteful a gang murder is when we allow a female to take the life of her own child. I would call it hypocritical.

All life from conception to natural death needs to be defended.

The life from conception to natural death needs to be defended. I would state that I believe life begins at the beating heart, not the cell. However, where are all these people defending the loss of life to gangs, drugs and suicide? These are not natural deaths; these are tragedies. These are more tragic than a mere abortion in the first trimester. I do have issue with an abortion after the baby begins the journey when it can live outside the mother; but the gangs, shootings, drugs, abuse, and depression which leads to suicide are robbing us of our youth that are already here. If we can't help them, then how can we help the unborn too? The problem is with the living; work with them so they don't have to use an abortion clinic.

Perhaps if we set an example to our youth by not allowing an abortion mill in our community which allows a mother to murder the child she is carrying, the youth of our city will have more respect for themselves and others who live in the community.

Very difficult to preach against a senseless gang murder when we allow the most innocent of human beings to be brutally murdered.

A bit hypocritical isnt it?

Anonymous,

Well, maybe we should try to end this war ASAP and that would send an even louder message to young people of Aurora? Very difficult to preach against a senseless gang murder when we allow soldiers wearing American uniforms to tell unarmed Iraqi men to run toward freedom and safety while they are preparing to shoot the running men in the back and then plant weapons on their body to look like they were the agressors?

Preaching respect for all human life is a bit difficult after watching the TV coverage of the war, isn't it?

So, my question still stands. Do you plan to vote for the Republicans who are fighting tooth and nail to keep pouring billion after billion into this human blood-drinking war monster? Or will you just look the other way? How do you justify preaching passionately against abortion but keeping safe distance from the war subject, I can't help but wonder? Or do Iraqies even count as humans? Because if they are not, then obviously no need to worry. Hm?

Anonymous,

I am getting very intersted in your repeated references to the supposed connection between abortion and crime rates among the youth and in general. Maybe there is more to it than my mind allows me to see right now? I hope I can to approach questions like that with open mind and curious attitude.

So, how can we determine if you are right, wrong, or maybe only partially right/wrong.

The first thing that comes to my mind is to compare several countries that currently allow and prohibit abortion to see whether there is any detectable tendency among them.

Would you care to demonstrate me your hypothesis by comparing the crime rates among youngsters and the population in general using the examples of other countries?
