BY MIKE CETERA

The problems with the Chicago Marathon on Sunday have been well documented. Just wanted to share a couple updates on marathon runners who appeared in our newspaper.

We featured stories on several runners prior to the race. Find their stories here and here.

Here's what I could find while searching the marathon's Web site for results:

* David Ellermann of Geneva, who was running to raise money for pancreatic cancer research -- couldn't find him as a participant. His Web site is here.

* Kellie Ellermann finished in 6:05:12

* Gabriela Bautista of Aurora, who was running to to raise money for the family of a 21-month-old boy with a fatal genetic disease, finished in 6:16:04

* Phil Anderson of St. Charles, who was running in his 21st Chicago marathon, did not finish, according to the marathon Web site.

There's an interesting forum discussion among runners regarding the various heat-related problems that occurred on the course. Some of the posts demonstrate the frustration and frightening nature of what occurred Sunday.

There are many, many personal accounts out there about people running in the marathon. Here's one from Amber Greviskes, who said before the race she decided to run her first marathon in memory of a Rosary High School track coach:

I chose to run this, my first marathon, to fulfill a promise that I made to former Rosary High School cross country and track coach Jamie LaForce, my mentor and friend. Shortly after Jamie, an accomplished master's runner, began coaching in 2000 we discussed training for a marathon together. By the year's end, however, Jamie was fighting for her life against a disease that had no name. Days before Jamie died I promised her that I would run our marathon one day.

Greviskes, formerly of Aurora, finished in 4:08:46.
