The man who owns Old Copley also owns...

...property in downtown Aurora.

Electronic records on file with Aurora Township show the sort-of mystery man and Democrat party donor Raghuveer Nayak bought two parcels in 2005.

Records show he bought 151-157 Middle Ave. and 148 S. Lake St. Both parcels are zoned commercial.

Notice the Middle Avenue address is right in the heart of Joe Vantreese's redevelopment area (including The Beacon News property). And the Lake Street address is located just west. Not sure if they're adjoining properties.

Here's a satellite image of the area (albeit an old one) from Google.

This is an interesting blog. Maybe this is a torn that Tom Weisner threw in the mix of the Vantrese development. First off, where does a pharmesist get all this money from. I have heard he's not even one, is that true? Also, it seems very odd that he would just be randomly buying up property. There seems to be something not right about this whole deal; and with Copley. Again, another City Hall Scandal.

Nice work Mike! Like to see A LOT more of this type of reporting from the Beacon News. Something smells with these deals. Yet we seem to be reading more and more about these types with the City lately

This what I find interesting. Vantreese came in under the tail end of the Stover administration. I would like to know when in 2005 these purchases were made. If it is after Weisner was elected, one could speculate that as Mayor of the City; Vantreese wanted to share his thoughts on redevelopment with him. If this guy then turns around and buys key property in the proposed redevelopment plan before anyone is aware of it -- one could equate that to insider trading. The Mayor gave one of his key supporters an "in" as to buy this property when it was valued less; then sell it because it is within the development area. Sounds a bit shady to me.

5th Ward,

You see the blue text above in the blog posting? Those are called hyperlinks. You click on them to go to a new web page. The ones above are to the Assessor's website, which show both sales were recorded 2/1/2005.
