Now on Craigslist: Shooting fish in a barrel

UPDATE BELOW: March 26

Ahem. Well then.

We're not going to link to it from here -- this is supposed to be a family-friendly blog, after all -- but local police agencies looking to show how serious they are about cracking down on prostitution need look no further than Craigslist, an online personals site, where a variety of "services" are seemingly available to anyone with an e-mail account or a phone.

No wonder Aurora police have made three arrests in recent months for prostitution. It's really not that difficult to find people on the Internet willing to get paid for sex. The most recent arrest came this week when Jason A. Pauls, 34, was charged with prostitution.

An undercover officer in the Aurora police Special Operations Group discovered Pauls offering services that implied prostitution over "Craig's List" in late November, officials said.

After conversing with him via e-mail for several days, Pauls allegedly offered to perform sex acts on the officer in exchange for money. The two men agreed to meet in the parking lot of a grocery store in the 3000 block of East New York Street Monday, when Pauls was arrested.

Two others were charged in October.

While it's unclear if the online solicitations are real or just someone playing around, the prostitution advertisements are quite raunchy. And some people posting to the site have taken notice that police are on the lookout. They urge potential customers to avoid several of the people advertising prostitution because they are "working with the COPS !!!"

UPDATE: March 26

Yet another case of people using Craigslist to advertise prostitution results in arrests.
