This makes for the trifecta. Each mayoral candidate has now weighed in on reforming campaign finance rules in Aurora. Richard Irvin's camp released this today. Here's what Mayor Tom Weisner and Alderman Stephanie Kifowit had to say over the last week.

Statement of Christopher Hage, Spokesperson for Aurora Mayoral Candidate Richard Irvin, on Mayor Weisner's Comments Regarding Ethics Reform
Aurora, IL- "It is clear that the Mayor believes that the best defense is a good offense. Given the cloud of suspicion that has hung around his administration regarding pay for play, Mayor Weisner is hardly in a position to question anyone else's ethics. Just last year, The Beacon News reported that more than one in four of the Mayor's contributors had been paid a total of more than $64 million by the city since he took office.
Richard Irvin has made ethics reform the hallmark of his campaign for Mayor. When Richard is Mayor, he will end pay for play and hold himself - and those around him - to the highest ethical standard possible."

So he's going to start being ethical AFTER he's mayor? That would explain the article that came out today about him taking $5k from Geneva Construction. Thats roughly five times "Pay-TOm-Play" Weisner's threshold for city contractors!
Finance reform, and finance in general will require leadership in these coming months.

Grasping at straws and beating the same old dead horse just like the last campaign?
Sounds good to me! : )
Let's go back to the poisoned water thing again while we're at it!
I wonder if Mr Irvin will ever have an original thought. He appears competetent and then his mouth opens up and look out. He is a great representative for the Kane county republican party. He and Kifowit couldn't beat the Mayor in a spitting contest.
