We asked candidates for the April 7 election a series of questions we hope will help voters make an informed voting decision. Up now: Aurora 4th Ward alderman. Find their surveys attached after the jump.
There are three candidates for the position.
Hal Beebee, 68, is the owner of Beebee & Day Insurance in Aurora. He has never held elected office. Said Beebee: "I have the full time to devote to this position. I have worked with many groups all of my life and have been able to work to a consensus. I know how to offer positive and constructive alternatives, rather than criticizing or complaining in a situation."
Rick Lawrence, 44, is co-owner of Nuyen Awning Co. He has served one term as 4th Ward alderman. Said Lawrence: "I made a promise to my wife that if we were to raise our daughters here, I would do everything I could to make Aurora a better place to live. I never forgot that promise and have the same commitment to all of the families of our city."
Chuck Norris, Jr., 32, is a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He has never held elected office. Said Norris: "I have the man on the street prospective. I give you a different lookout and I have a follow up that gives you more of the understanding of why I had to do what I had to do. I choose my battles wisely to not look like a nuisance. I am very aggressive and passionate in my work."
I find Alderman Lawrence's best quality to be his humility.
