We asked candidates for the April 7 election a series of questions we hope will help voters make an informed voting decision. Up now: Aurora alderman at-large. Find their surveys attached after the jump.
There are two candidates for the position.
Guadalupe Garcia, 37, is a telecommunications manager. She has never held elected office. Said Garcia: "The citizens of Aurora work hard for all that we have which is why we put a great value on fiscal responsibility from our elected officials. We put our trust in them to manage our tax dollars wisely, a responsibility which should never be taken lightly! But we must ask ourselves have they truly managed our tax dollars as they should have?"
Robert O'Connor, 64, is an attorney. He has served as an Aurora alderman since 1985. Said O'Connor: "I offer my experience and my knowledge -- my history of working well with the mayor and council members to get things done."
I find Alderman O'Connor's questionnaire disturbing. It is hand written and bearly understandable. Does he not own a computer? I am in shock, whereas, the challenger typed out her answers and they make more sense. Interesting.
