We asked candidates for the April 7 election a series of questions we hope will help voters make an informed voting decision. Up now: Sandwich mayor. Find their surveys attached after the jump.
There are two candidates for the position.
Richard W. Robinson, 39, is a deputy sheriff with the DeKalb County sheriff's department. He has served as a Sandwich alderman since 2003. Said Robinson: "My vision for the community is the same as when I was first elected to the council. Making sure that growth is controlled and that new developments are paid for by the developers and not a burden on the existing tax payers. To build good working relationships with the other taxing bodies in our community -- the school, park, library and fire districts."
Tom Thomas, 62, has served as the mayor of Sandwich for 20 years. Said Thomas: "We now face an unprecedented economic downturn during my lifetime. The city has not suffered due to poor decision making, and it is well positioned to deal with these unprecedented times. It is through my experiences and philosophy that positive results will continue to be obtained through these challenging adn changing conditions."
