Aurora Firefighters Local 99 Endorse Mayor Tom Weisner

Aurora, IL - Today, Friends of Tom Weisner announced that Mayor Tom Weisner received the endorsement of Aurora Firefighters Local 99.

"I am honored to once again have the support of Aurora's fire fighters," said Mayor Tom Weisner. "Our firefighters are on the front lines every day ensuring our safety, and I am proud to stand with them as we work together to build a better Aurora."

In their endorsement letter, President of Aurora Firefighters Local #99 Toby Gill said, "You have proven to us through your continued support of Local #99 and the Aurora Fire Department that you are the right choice to lead the City of Aurora."

Gill added "...you and your staff have always worked with us in a fair and objective manner. We appreciate the fact that your door is always opened to us when needed."

Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner has made improving public safety a main focus of his time in office. Under his leadership the city replaced an aging fire station on the city's far-east side with a new, $6 million dollar facility, which also provides a permanent home to the City of Aurora's Customer Service Call Center (630-264-INFO).

Mayor Weisner also championed the replacement of Aurora's antiquated public safety telecommunication system. The new system will be interoperable with DuPage County's emergency telecommunications system, the State of Illinois' STARCOM21 and various mutual aid channels for fire, emergency medical services, police, and emergency management.
