Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner's Campaign Enjoys Broad Grassroots Support
Aurora, IL - More than 900 individuals and organizations have financially contributed to Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner's campaign for reelection. Friends of Tom Weisner raised more than $16,500 in small donations during the reporting period between January 1 and March 8, 2009 - many which came through www.weisnerformayor.com in amounts as little as $10.
Mayor Weisner's D-2 statement, released today, also shows that in the most recent reporting period he continues to enjoy strong support from thousands of working men and women across Aurora with nearly 20 area unions and labor organizations listed as contributors. More than 50 businesses and individuals gave contributions over $150 dollars since the beginning of the year.
"I am humbled and grateful for the outpouring of grassroots support from people across Aurora," remarked Mayor Tom Weisner, "Our city's diversity is our greatest strength and I am pleased to have the confidence of so many Aurorans of all races, ages and incomes."
The D-2 statement filed by Friends of Tom Weisner indicates the campaign collected approximately $85,000 in cash and in-kind contributions between January 1 and March 8, 2009.

So, Weisner has added to his already hefty election bankroll. In a race that isn't about money, he holds $127,723 in cash on hand for the final two weeks. Needless to say, that outdistances his opponents by a wide margin.
In the pre-election reports due by Monday, Alderman Stephanie Kifowit reported $11,557 in available cash -- most of which has come from her own pocket. Alderman Richard Irvin is sitting on $46,729 in cash. He, too, has banked the majority of his campaign.
