Man, things are buzzing around Beacon Election Central with just 11 days until non-early voters cast their ballots.

With so much happening -- campaign ads flying, finance reports filing, candidates stumping -- it's hard to keep up on all the good stuff floating around.

It's been a year since this reporter traded in his editor's hat and came down river from Geneva.

Wouldn't you know, the thing most-missed from my days up north is something that might not be around much longer -- the Village of Campton Hills.

Still as old as a toddler, "The Hills" has had enough drama for a reality series set in what can only be described as the unhappiest place in Kane County.

Originally, this post was going to be about the 40-minute phone conversation between Alderman Rick Lawrence and myself on Friday. The topic: The Mayoral Race.

Originally, this post took issue with not mentioning in a chat about Aurora's contenders for mayor that Lawrence, a contender for mayor in Aurora, was about to pull out.

Originally, this post planned to bring up how Lawrence mentioned to me a handful of times in recent months how he had no plans to drop his mayoral aspiration in lieu of a chance to hold onto his Fourth Ward seat.

Nope, this post isn't about any of that.

Depending on the day of the week, phase of the moon or who is talking to the U.S. Attorney's Office, campaign cash is either a huge factor in who gets elected to office or it's a non factor.

It's clearly hard to run a strong campaign without much money, but that's easy for someone who's never been on a ballot to say.

With four weeks until we elect a new president (not mention only six months until Aurora's mayoral election) what better time for the Beacon Blog to be reborn?

Sure, those are the big-ticket contests coming up, but plenty of state and county races will provide plenty of conversation fodder. But, this won't just be about candidates.
