Raiders ready for state

The girls track and field team participated in the Plainfield Central sectional on Saturday, a meet that was originally scheduled for Friday. It was pushed back due to bad weather.

Eventually, Bolingbrook advanced to state in five events and a total of eight girls will be making the trip to Eastern Illinois University for Friday's prelims. Here's the run down of the events and girls that advanced.

100-meter dash
Mercedes Griffin 12.00 (Automatic Qualifier - 2nd place)

800-meter run
Jahnell Horton 2:16.50 (Automatic Qualifier - 1st place)

400-meter relay
Samantha Horton, Kimberly Azie, Rosemary Onyeguble, Mercedes Griffin (3rd Place - Beat State Qualifying Time)

800-meter relay
Samantha Horton, Kimberly Azie, Chantel Stennis, Mercedes Griffin (4th Place - Beat State Qualifying Time)

1600-meter relay
Nicosia Henry, Chantel Stennis, Rheyana Branch, Jahnell Horton (Automatic Qualifier - 1st Place)

As a team, Bolingbrook took 3rd with a total of 67 team points. Fellow SWSC schools had good showings at the meet as Lockport took fifth, Minooka ninth, and Joliet Township 11th. Here's the rundown of all of the schools at the sectional.
