The Bolingbrook Raiders boys soccer team lost 3-2 to visiting Lincoln-Way Central on Monday night.
The Bolingbrook Soccer Team took on conference rival Lincoln Way Central in a SWSC crossover game. The Knights struck 1st with a goal from Nick Fox. Lincoln Way Central tallied another goal late in the 1st half by Phil Galounis the Knights opened the scoring at 2-0. The Bolingbrook Raiders looked confused and wondered what was happening to be losing 2-0 so early in a match. But the Raiders kept fighting and got there first goal on a pass from Patrick Bizimana to Alex Cruz who fought through a crowd of Knights to tally the 1st goal of the game for the Raiders. With the score 2-1 at halftime the Raiders felt like they were in striking distance. Early in the 2nd half the Raiders increased the pressure on Central and forced a miss touch in the back that found Arturo Cruz as he touched the ball from the goalie and buried the game tying goal back corner 2-2. The Raiders felt they were the ones in the driver's seat with numerous chances to score in the second half. But once again the defense let done the Raiders again. The Raiders defense has made several mistakes this season that have cost there team the game. With about 6 minutes left the Knights bent in a free kick from the top corner of the box. The kick was given because of a bad foul by a Raiders player who was out of position. The Knights squeaked out a close one at the Brook 3-2.The loss drops the Bolingbrook to 6-6-2 Overall and 2-3 in the SWSC. This will just about guarantee that the Raiders will not win the conference title once again.
