The Bolingbrook Raiders boys soccer team lost 3-2 to visiting Lincoln-Way Central on Monday night.

The Bolingbrook Soccer Team took on conference rival Lincoln Way Central in a SWSC crossover game. The Knights struck 1st with a goal from Nick Fox. Lincoln Way Central tallied another goal late in the 1st half by Phil Galounis the Knights opened the scoring at 2-0. The Bolingbrook Raiders looked confused and wondered what was happening to be losing 2-0 so early in a match. But the Raiders kept fighting and got there first goal on a pass from Patrick Bizimana to Alex Cruz who fought through a crowd of Knights to tally the 1st goal of the game for the Raiders. With the score 2-1 at halftime the Raiders felt like they were in striking distance. Early in the 2nd half the Raiders increased the pressure on Central and forced a miss touch in the back that found Arturo Cruz as he touched the ball from the goalie and buried the game tying goal back corner 2-2. The Raiders felt they were the ones in the driver's seat with numerous chances to score in the second half. But once again the defense let done the Raiders again. The Raiders defense has made several mistakes this season that have cost there team the game. With about 6 minutes left the Knights bent in a free kick from the top corner of the box. The kick was given because of a bad foul by a Raiders player who was out of position. The Knights squeaked out a close one at the Brook 3-2.

The loss drops the Bolingbrook to 6-6-2 Overall and 2-3 in the SWSC. This will just about guarantee that the Raiders will not win the conference title once again.

Bolingbrook 2, Lincoln-Way North 0

The Bolingbrook Soccer Team traveled to Lincoln Way North in a cross over SWSC conference match. The Raiders started the game flat but still managed to get several chances to score. The Raiders despite having several chances had not scored at the half way point 0-0. But Bolingbrook did not stay quit for long Alex Cruz found a streaking Arturo Cruz on a nice through ball who finished the ball back post for the first goal of the game 1-0. Arturo Cruz netted another goal later in the game when Patrick Bizimana was taken down in the box for a penalty kick. Arturo Cruz buried the ball back bar to push the game to 2-0. The Raiders peppered the goal all night long but could not get another goal past an outstanding Lincoln Way North Keeper who came up with save after save. Fransisco Luna record 3 saves in his 2nd shutout of the season. Arturo Cruz 2 Goals / Alex Cruz 1 Assist / Fransisco Luna 3 Saves - 2 Shutouts Overall Record 6-4-2 SWSC Record 2-1

The Bolingbrook Raiders boys soccer team beat Young 3-0 in a consolation bracket game of the Pepsi Showdown on Saturday at the Lyons Soccer Complex in LaGrange.

Arturo Cruz had a goal and an assist to help the Raiders improve to 5-4-2 on the season.

Larkin and Loyola will play for the championship of the 32-team tournament on Oct. 5 at Toyota Park.

UPDATE: I stopped by my palatial imitation office on Monday and found a fax with more info about the game. As a word of caution to those with fax machines and a need to use them: your information will not get to The Brook Blog very fast. The Brook Blog is of, for and by the people, which means I don't have time to be harnessed to fax machines in offices. E-mail is the way to go.

The Bolingbrook Raiders took on Whitney Young @ Lyons in the Pepsi Showdown. The Raiders put a goal on the board in the 1st 5 minutes when Arturo Cruz followed a shot that the keeper mishandled and buried the miss touch by the keeper to put Bolingbrook up 1-0. Later in the 1st half the Raiders struck again with a through ball from Arturo Cruz to his brother Alex Cruz who split the defense and notched the 2nd goal back post to put the Raiders up 2-0 at the half. The Raiders continued the scoring in the second half with a long through ball from Jose Villareal who found Jim Faught streaking through the defense he chipped the goalie to push the lead to 3-0. The Raiders coasted to victory 3-0. Francisco Luna had 3 saves in Bolingbrook's 1st shutout of the season.

Arturo Cruz notched the first goal of the game on a well placed pass from Diego Alcantara.
Christian Ontiveros recorded the 2nd goal with a header over the defense and goalie.
Brandon Baaske made 8 Saves in the victory. Next game will be @ Lyons on Saturday as part of the Pepsi Showdown. Overall Record 4-4-2
