Thumbnail image for katie.jpgToday's Courier-News cover story "Campaign mail buries Elgin-area homes" takes a look at some of the reasons why we've been inundated with campaign mail this election season.

To help you figure out how to tell fact from fiction on all that political propaganda landing in your mail box, we offer up the following: Each is a link that will lead you to a non-partisan website. There you can search and find out exactly how each local candidate voted on issues that are important to you.

More resources from Sun-Times Media West, after the jump.

If you are interested specifically in the 14th District Congressional candidates, we've got a great site for you!

Reporters Andre Salles and Matt Hanley at The Beacon News in Aurora posed questions from readers to local candidates (Democrat Rep. Bill Foster, Republican State Sen. Randy Hultgren and Green Party candidate Dan Kairis).

They quizzed the men on health care, the economy, job creation, immigration and other issues and are posting each candidate's answers on the Beacon website here each day through Friday, along with fact-checks on the responses.

Have other recommendations on how to get to the bottom of the campaign ads? We'd love to hear your input! Leave a comment below or e-mail Courier reporter Katie Anderson at kanderson@stmedianetwork.com.
