NOTE: In a revival of this "classic" Friday feature, Courier-News reporter Mike Danahey guesses how much beer (or other beverage of choice) it might take him to pay money to see a recently-released movie. His opinions are based on trailers, ads and advance hype.
Here are some of the movies playing this weekend...
Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance
Nicolas Cage returns as Johnny Blaze, the motorcycle-riding fire face who collects debts for the devil. It wasn't available for critics in advance. You'd think they would put out better movies in February. It's usually cold, and there's not much else to do. Maybe it's a conspiracy to get more people to go bowling.
Beer rating: Lots of Duvel Belgian Ale.
This Means War, after the jump.
This Means War
This looks bad. Apparently it's about a love triangle between Reese Witherspoon and metrosexuals Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, who all play characters who work for the CIA. My guess is real spies look more like me than anyone here because spies should blend in, right? If you're young and hot, unless you're spying in nightclubs, it's not gonna work. Unless maybe all nightclubs the world over are indeed filled with secret agents.
Beer rating: More Duvel. It's a blonde.
WHAT?! You were looking for a REAL movie review? Our Sun-Times Media colleague Roger Ebert at the Chicago Sun-Times does a swell job at that.
