I'm guessing that White Sox and Cubs fans can agree on one thing when it comes to who they'd like to have doing play-by-play during the most important games of their teams' baseball seasons. Not Dick Stockton.
TBS must hold a grudge against the City of Big Shoulders because Mr. Stockton will be on the call for the Sox-Twins tiebreaker on Wednesday and the Cubs-Dodgers series starting Thursday.
Stockton - who is well past his sell-by date and earned the ire of Cubs fans last year after he called the Cubs the Cowboys in the Division Series against Arizona - will team with Ron Darling and Harold Reynolds for the Sox tiebreaker and then head to the other side of town on Wednesday for the Cubs' series opener along with Darling and Tony Gwynn.
If the Sox were to win on Tuesday, the Sox-Rays series would be called by Red Sox announcer Don Orsillo and Reynolds, who is finally back on the big stage after a real rough stretch personally. I've always been a fan of Reynolds' on-air work.
Chip Caray will be the play-by-play man for the Red Sox-Angles series.
