Saints ready to rumble -- St. Charles East is on the court warming up. The Saints are set to take on Evanston in the first of two Class 4A semifinal matches that will conclude a full -- and long -- day of volleyball.
The winner will advance to Saturday's title match to play either Benet or Mother McAuley.
6:54 -- Introductions are under way. Saints student section holding up sign that reads, "One Nation Under Kull."
Saints are dressed in white tops with black bottoms. Evanston is wearing all blue. Both student sections are sporting orange attire.
Game 1
7:00 -- Ready to go. Evanston will serve first.
7:10 -- Evanston 13, St. Charles East 11. East stormed out to a 10-6 lead before the Wildkits came roaring back. Evanston just finished a 7-1 run to force a Saints timeout.
7:17 -- Evanston 21, East 20. Down 20-15, Saints have rallied back with a 5-1 to get back within a point and force a timeout by the Wildkits. St. Charles East still serving.
7:20 -- Evanston 23, East 22. Timeout Saints. Wildkits serving.
7:21 -- East 24, Evanston 23. Back-to-back kills by East's Meghan Niski and Haley Streich force another timeout by the Wildkits -- this time facing game-point. Niski still serving.
7:23 -- East 26, Evanston 24. Caroline Niski ends Game 1 with a kill, following an assist from Laura Homann. One more win and East is on to tomorrow's championship match.
Game 2
7:32 -- East 8, Evanston 6.
7:39 -- East 18, Evanston 12. Saints starting to take control in Game 2. Senior Haley Streich and freshman Meghan Niski have been awfully impressive leading the charge.
7:45 -- East 23, Evanston 19. Wildkits hanging on for dear life, but have scored four straight points before East timeout.
7:46 -- East 25, Evanston 20. "This one's over." Meghan Niski ends match with a kill. Saints moving onto title match.
