Changes are in store for Westminster Christian's softball program.
The school announced Thursday that coach Jim Mueller resigned for personal reasons. The Warriors finished 3-11 in their first-ever varsity season in 2008.
Mueller will be replaced by Scott Sevey, who is a guidance counselor at Westminster. Gretchen Collins will step in as an assistant coach.
In an e-mail, Westminster athletics director Rick Palmer expressed gratitude for the work done by Mueller, who was recently diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's.
"I was extremely pleased with the job he did starting our softball program here at WCHS in 2008," Palmer said. "He had a passion and a love for the game and did a great job teaching and developing the players. The kids loved playing for him and he will be extremely missed."
In May, the Courier News' Tim Masmar wrote a piece on Mueller and his battle.
