Nasty weather led to some sparse crowds during the first two days at the Elgin Holiday Tournament, but a few notable faces formerly tied to Elgin's hoops program were seen in the crowd the past few nights at Chesbrough Field House.

Armani Williams and Jeremy Granger, the two Elgin players who landed Division-I scholarships after last year's run to a Sectional title, both made it out to their old stomping grounds to cheer on their former mates.

Williams, who was decked out in Texas-Arlington attire Monday night, reported that a left knee injury has kept him out of action so far for the Mavericks. That would be the same left knee that Williams underwent surgery on before his senior season with the Maroons to fix a torn ACL.

Meanwhile, Granger has seen limited action in nine of Eastern Illinois' 10 games as the Panthers are off to a 3-7 start to the season.

Granger and Williams were joined by former teammates and 2008 graduates D'Angelo Stewart and Gustavo Herrera in the stands. Brandon Grissette, a 2007 Elgin grad, was also in attendance.

Lastly, former coach Elgin Rob Brault was back in the gym taking in some holiday hoops as he watched Hoffman Estates take on Dundee-Crown on Tuesday night. Brault, who still works at Elgin High, was at one time an assistant under longtime Hoffman coach Bill Wandro.
