It's a funny thing when two guys that were traded for each other at one time both end up being free agents at the same time.
That's the case right now as Juan Uribe and Aaron Miles are both free to shop their services around to any baseball team willing to write them paychecks.
Miles was becoming a minor league journeyman before he surfaced with the White Sox for a few at-bats in 2003. That offseason the Sox dealt him to Colorado for Uribe straight-up.
Uribe was a key piece for the Sox when they won the World Series in 2005. But then Miles, who didn't last long with the Rockies, was a semi-regular contributor for the Cardinals when they won the Series in 2006.
Two middle infielders traded for each other who went on to help two different teams win the World Series in back-to-back years.
I suppose that's not earth-shattering, but still interesting enough that I thought it was worth a mention.
For my money, Uribe is the better player -- especially when you consider his stellar defense. But they're both looking for new homes now.
