Notre Dame's football season came to an unmerciful end Saturday when the Irish were blasted by USC, putting an ugly cap on a generally ugly season.
Naturally, there's lots of speculation on whether Notre Dame will send coach Charlie Weis packing, despite the years and dollars still left on his contract.
There is the argument being made by more than one person that while Weis has brought in enough talent to turn the team around as early as next season, the coach's unpleasant attitude is as much a reason to can him as the lack of winning.
I get that as the football coach, he is Notre Dame's most prominent name and face. But I'm probably also a cynic in thinking that if the school thinks he can take the team to a bowl and maybe a Top 25 finish next year, the personality worries will evaporate into all of that hot air about image.
That's the bottom line. If Weis' bosses still think he can be a winner, he'll be back. If they don't, then he won't.
