Katie Yohn became the all-time leading scorer in St. Edward girls basketball history Monday night, surpassing Beth Hasenmiller's previous record of 1,772 points.
Yohn scored 26 points against Chicago Christian in a 60-45 Green Wave victory in the semifinals of the Plano Class 2A Sectional, giving her 1,790 career points.
Hasenmiller, who goes by her married name of Beth Sauser, works as an assistant executive director for the Illinois High School Association. She graduated from St. Edward in 1987 as the school's all-time leader in scoring and rebounding.
Hasenmiller led the Green Wave to a Class A state championship in 1985 and a third-place finish in 1986. A 1997 inductee of the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame, Hasenmiller was a two-time Courier-News Player of the Year and earned All-State accolades.
Hasenmiller then enjoyed a stellar career at DePaul and left the Blue Demons ranking among the all-time leaders in several statistical categories.
She joined the IHSA staff in 1999 and has three children with her husband, Mike.
