July 2009 Archives

The farmers market grub proved delicious. The kohlrabi was great, the zucchini was even better (grilled in packets with onion and tomato).

With the tastes still lingering on my mind, I opened me e-mail and saw: VeggieFest 2009!

OK, it's not just for food. It's for health too. The Science of Spirituality Center is holding Veggie Fest Chicagoland 2009 on Aug. 8-9 at the center, 4S175 Naperville Road, Naperville. There are speakers, musical acts, vendors, food demos, kids' activities and more.

It's free. But if you're not into, well, alternative thought, you might want to give it a pass. It will include health talks on "meditation for conscious living." I'm not sure what that is and not open-minded enough to be sure I want to know. But it's not like you're going to turn into a granola-making hippie just by going. Go, ahead, pencil it into your calendar.
