Elvira Arellano a martyr?

The Hound spent many Sunday mornings as a pup at a United Methodist Church. It was nice, but Sundays were enough. He wouldn’t want to spend a solid year there.

That’s what Elvira Arellano did. While using the church in Chicago as sanctuary, she became an activist and symbol for illegal immigrant parents.

Arellano was deported to Mexico Sunday. Her 8-year-old U.S.-born son stayed in the U.S. with friends.

She said she will contine the struggle against the separation of families.

Hey, no one told her she had to leave her son in the U.S. She could have taken him with her to Mexico. Separation was her choice.

Elvira Arellano a martyr? Hardly. She was a criminal fugitive who was in violation of the law.
