The Gurnee Chamber of Commerce has started a new program, "iShopGurnee.com". Why?
It's not like anybody doesn't shop in Gurnee. The day after Thanksgiving you can hardly find a parking place at Gurnee Mills. During the summer, the crowds appear to be split evenly between Six Flags and the Mills.
The chamber boosters, as chamber boosters are wont to do, unveiled this new program and the accompanying Web site at the mayor's luncheon on Thursday. They'll be having contests and giveaways all tied to enriching "the community we live in." By doing so shoppers also "are contributing to the growth and prosperity of your own town."
That's swell. Can they crowd any more "big box" stores into town? But what if you don't live in Gurnee? Does that help your town prosper?
Whatever, see you at the mall and just shop till you drop!
