This hound has never been a junkyard dog, but he's hung around a few of them. They're some nasty folks, they are. Like the folks in Gurnee who want to move their junkyard across Washington Street and up against some Park City folks.
The vote is scheduled for tonight and a large contingent from Park City is expected to invade Gurnee's hallowed village hall. This will be the second go-round for the junkyard --- oops, apparently the owners prefer the upscale term of auto recycling station. The Gurnee Village Board rejected the last rezoning request.
But this time, Park City officials don't seem so concerned, although about 650 residents which will have the auto salvage operation along side their mobile homes are up in their proverbially arms in opposition.
Might Park City boobahs' neutrality stand be because the owners of the junkyard have a rezoning petition of their own for a retail used auto sales and auto parts store before Park City's zoning board?
Looks like Park City residents have been left to twist slowly in the wind in return for some sales tax money for Park City coffers. Wouldn't be the first time money wins out over citizen interests.
Chew on that for a while, Park City residents.
