On the loose

We hate to second guess the cops, but The Hound is scratching his head over an attempted sex attack in unincorporated Lake County north of Wauconda last week. The attack occurred at 8:40 p.m. Oct. 8 and the Lake County Sheriff's Office didn't notify the media until Friday, Oct. 12.

Granted, deputies say they increased patrols in the area of Fairfield and Chardon roads, along with canvassing the neighborhood. But what if the assailant didn't live in the area? Citizens have a right to know what crime is happening not only in their community, but within nearby areas.

Didn't candidate Mark Curran promise an open administration before he was elected sheriff? So, what's the story about the time delay?

Deputies believe the suspect, a white male about six-feet tall, wearing a blue jacket or hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gym shoes, who left after a 50-year-old woman fought him off and yelled for family members, escaped in a vehicle parked close by. Thankfully, the woman suffered minor injuries although the creep tried to take her pants off.

Meanwhile, what we have is an attempted rapist on the loose in Lake County. Something Lake Countians should have been alerted to earlier in the week.
