If you're packing up today to head up to Green Bay for the Bears victory over the archrival Packers, you will be lucky campers.
That's because the end of bottomless drink specials won't come until after Oct. 9. That's right, the Green Bay City Council is expected to ban the specials. If you've never had a bottomless drink special, it's not bellying up to the bar without your pants on. Although, some Bears' fans might be feeling a little heady over the Monsters of the MIdway win on Sunday night.
Instead, the specials go something like this: Bars typically charge somewhere between $8 and $10 and in return you get a wristband and the right to unlimited drinks within a certain period --- like all night. Apparently, it doesn't get any better than that for Green Bay barflies.
One of the reasons Green Bay is moving in banning such specials is that police there issued more than 400 DUIs so far this year andt there were five alcohol-related traffic deaths in recent months. The Hound advises Bears fans heading north for the big game to drink responsibly.
And remember, Sunday is Favre Record Day in Wisconsin, declared so by Gov. Jim Doyle. Drink up.
