Most Lake Countians think there's only three radio stations based here. Of course, there's WKRS on the AM dial, WXLC and low-power WRLR on the FM dial. However, some of you might not know about WWDV in Zion.

Zion's WWDV-FM simulcasts with Chicago classic rocker The Drive. Or at least that's what The Hound is told.

The Hound's music tastes lean more toward the Volkswagens of Hi-Fi, Leavenworth Glee Club, Decemberists, Death Cab for Cutie and last, but not least, the Detroit Cobras. But The Hound tries to keep up with what his older Boomer brother is listening to if Electric Light Orchestra enters into a conversation.

WWDV/The Drive has compiled a CD of classic songs, the ninth one they've done, which is available at the Gurnee Borders Store. The CDs come out around the holiday season and probably are the work of one Bob Stroud, the most knowledgeable person of '60s and '70s music outside some aging folks at the word factory. He hosts "Rock n' Roll Roots" every Sunday morning from 7 to 10 a.m.

Proceeds from sale of the CDs go to a charity selected by the station, so you can get a nice stocking stuffer and get a tax donation! Rock on, Zion.
