The Hound knows Waukegan's a rough place, but a couple of travelers found even the library is a tough room.
A band of merry pranksters stopped on a video quest called "A Year at the Wheel" stopped in Waukegan to check out the birthplace of Ray Bradbury. They went to the Waukegan Public Library with the goal to go to the Ray Bradbury Room and view cllippings, information and such on the sci-fi author.
Instead, they nearly got busted.
Apparently, a security guard at the library didn't like them filming inside the edifice, where a local was asked about Ray Bradbury. He then called the gendarmes on them after they refused to show identification and chased them down the street seeking to get their license plate number.
Perhaps if the videographers would have checked in with security their reception might have been one with open arms and maybe even a tour of the Bradbury Room.
A library card would have helped, too. Check out their video at www.ayearatthewheellcom/page8.index.html.
