The Hound was at the vet the other day, getting his annual physical and was reading one of those magazines only found in a sawbones' office. That was when he learned of the best and worst brand extensions of '07.

Marketers talk about brands alot, and not the ones you mark cattle with on the range. They're talking about a product and keeping that product current and continual. Disney is a brand and look what they do every year. Indeed, this magazine thought one of the best brand extensions was Disney's Fairy Tale wedding gowns. They, too, liked PetSmart Pets-Hotels.

But some of the "most inappropriate" brand extensions included the Humane Society Dog Lovers Wine Club --- shame on you owners! Also disliked was Girls Gone Wild apparel. What apparel? Isn't that part of the "Girls Gone Wild" mystique --- nothing on top!

A "questionable" food brand extension was Hooters energy drink. Who would have thought except for the hidden persuaders. Also on the questionable list was Trump Steaks --- who came up with that should be fired.

Even celebrities' brands were graded. Best celebrity branded item? Newman's Own everything. Worst? Danny DeVito's Premium Limoncello. Apparently DeVito was a little tipsy after downing a few of the Italian specialty drinks.

With all these branded items, The Hound feels left out of the marketplace. He's taking suggestions for products appropriate to his stature. Which is low to the ground.
