Like the "missle gap", the "generation gap" and the "gender gap" new devices are cropping up on the market that may close the gap of those red-light cameras communities are installing for "safety" reasons. It reminds The Hound of when he first learned of radar detectors. It made his stomach dance.
Communities are raking in new revenue with the installation of red-light cameras, but never doubt that American ingenuity and technology can tackle any problem and come up with a solution. Several companies have the new devices on the market raning in price from $200 to $400 for the newest must-have auto tech gadgets that warn of upcoming red-light cameras and radar traps.
These GPS-based speed-camera and red-light camera alert systems provide protection from red-light cameras. The GPS detectors store around 150,000 positions (camera locations) in its database. Data can be configured so that speed camera locations can be divided into different data sets, in order to distinguish between positions, such as fixed-speed cameras, possible mobile camera positions, red-light
cameras, speed traps, schools and high-collision areas.
There's also a "photo blocker" spray one can spray on license plates for about $30. The spray apparently produces a high-powered gloss that reflects the flash back towards the camera. This overexposes the image of your license plate, rendering the picture unreadable. Your license plate is invisible to traffic cameras yet completely legible to the naked eye.
While The Hound would never tell drivers to break the law, information on the spray is available at www.phantomplate.com. Guess this will close one gap and maybe make those cameras obsolete.
