The Hound normally doesn't listen to AM radio during work hours. While in the dog house, it's usually Lake County's best FM station on the dial, which would be WWDV/96.9 in Zion. But somebody alerted me to a poll on WKRS-AM that one just can't ignore because it's so lame. It had to do with the Kennedy clan endorsing Sen. Barack Obama for president.
WKRS, 1220 on your AM dial, runs these unscientific polls, some which appear to ask legitimate questions. However, the one that somebody called my attention to was this: " Are the Kennedys supporting Obama because they hold Hillary responsible for the death of JFK Jr?" What?
There's some fringe Web sites, conspiracy theorists and plain wingnuts who subscribe to the theory that the Clintons, in cahoots with the Bush dynasty, put a contract out on John-John because he was going to run for president. The theory goes that somehow they had somebody rig his airplane which crashed on its way to a weekend retreat on Martha's Vineyard, Mass., in July 1999, killing himself and his wife.
These same whackos claim a coverup of young Kennedy's death and tie it to the Dallas assassination of his father back in 1963. Most mainstream media ignore the JFK Jr. conspiracy theory as fancy, although Clinton bashers are quick to point to Vince Foster's death. Also, there's the so-called "Clinton Body Count", a list respected news outlets have investigated and found it to be another example of oddball Internet ramblings. Then there was the Bush tie-in that JFK dated Barbara Bush one summer before World War II.
As The Hound noted, "respected news" organizations have debunked most of this conspiracy trash, but WKRS decides to continue the "big lie" by posting the poll. One saving grace was one of the answers, besides yes and no, was: "What kind of question is that?" Indeed.
But one should expect no less from an organization that readily rips and reads newspaper copy, making it seem they actually have a news staff. That's lame, too.
Just thought I would ask who made the News-Hound judge jury and absolute expert on what is lame, etc....
As far as I know, most of the folks I know have commented that the News Sun is quite lame and certainly a column called News Hound spouting whatever is on their mind as righteous determiner of anything is possibly below that.
By the way, I occassionally listen to radio, and not too often to WKRS, but perhaps with your great endorsement I should listen a little more.
THE HOUND REPLIES: Listen CBGB, when it comes to culture everybody is an absolute expert. It's like art. You know it when you see it.
When a radio station offers a poll, even in jest, as 'KRS did, it makes all of us seem lame. If we're so lame, why are you reading us and spouting your lame opinion? You might as well listen to 'KRS, they read us, too.
Was this Libby Collins Show? Her and Bruno are both looney thinking Mccain has a shot at winning anything vs baracko or billary. Oh well...go Ron Paul!
THE HOUND SEZ: Jason, you're accusing Libby and Bruno of being looney about McCain, yet you think Ron Paul has a shot at anything? Hmmm....
