It could be, it might be, it is!

Fox News 32 talked to Harry Caray's widow, Dutchie, on Tuesday night and found she did not authorize those bizarre and annoying AT&T radio and TV commercials that have been running with the impersonator of the late Cubs announcer. That certainly was shocking.

Turns out, according to Fox News, the manager of Caray's estate gave approval for the commercials with the understanding they would be "a tribute" to the late sports broadcaster. Guess he was, shall we say, mislead. Too, the Caray restaurant chain has been getting scores of calls complaining about the commercials and blaming them for the morbid ads.

However, AT&T says the ads are supposed to end on Sunday as the campaign apparently has run its course. Maybe they'll get Vince Lloyd or Jack Quinlan to be the telecommunications giant's next spokesmen.

As one acquaintance told The Hound that not only are the Harry commercials bad, but so is the impersonation. He noted that most guys, once they've had a few beers, can do a spot-on Harry Caray. Hello again, everybody. It's a bee-yooo-tiful day for baseball!

All I have to say is AMEN!!!!

I'm sorry. I think Duchie is being a little disingenuous here.
There are quite a few Harry Carey bars out there and they are always having Harry Carey impersonation events there and all of them act more silly than those commercials were. These drunks get a belly full, put on the way over sized glasses and then do their shticks. Duchie is sometimes around and she is clapping along with everyone else in the bar. Now she seems offended.
That fact is that Harry was as goofy as those commercials showed. Probably even goofier. He was a drunk who really wasn't that good of a announcer but he connected with the fans because he was the drunk good time Charley. He was even goofier than those commercials showed.
I'm sorry, I think everyone is taking this too serious. It isn't like Harry was an elder statesman like person. He was a goof and everyone knew it.

THE HOUND SEZ: Disingenous? You answered that question when you noted there are several Harry Caray bars out there. They own the franchise and some low-level estate manager let AT&T use the franchise --- for free! If you think Harry Caray was the "drunk good time Charley" then you obviously believe Dean Martin was loaded on Martoonis during his performances.

Those commercials make me grit my teeth, they are rude ! They are so stupid and I would be doing something if I was Dutchie to stop them.

THE HOUND SAYS: Your teeth grinding should stop. AT&T says the commercials have run their course. As for Dutchie Caray, she wasn't even aware of the ads, according to the AP.
