On the right, sick call

| | Comments (4) | TrackBacks (0)

Veterans in The Hound's breed are ready to give the Waukegan guy who claimed he was a prisoner of war of the North Vietnamese a blanket party. These would be The Hound's great-uncle, uncle, second cousin, father and brother. If you were in the military, you know what happens when you get an invite to a blanket party.

For the unitiated, it is for those who don't want to carry their load. Or at least that is what The Hound has been told by the warriors in the clan. Most, they say, would have been Section 8s. Ron Naden would have been one, but he was never in the military.

Naden, a retired janitor at Oak Grove School in Green Oaks, since 1991 has been telling kids at the school and even teachers he was a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War for more than a year after allegedly parachuting into Laos. That was one of the whoppers Naden apparently told anyone who would listen. One teacher even got a POW/MIA flag, framed it and slapped it on a wall at the school in his honor. That is so wrong, Ron.

Naden's downfall came when The News-Sun slapped him in the newspaper after he told his tale of the whale. The Internet is a tool being used by those who sacrificed to expose those who didn't. Why one would want to be known as a POW is beyond The Hound's pecan-sized brain. Has anyone checked to see if Ron's driving around on a free POW license plate? Or if he's applied for veterans' benefits?

When The Hound asked the relatives for a comment, their only reply was: "On the right, sick call!" If you know what that means, drive on warriors.

i went to Oak Grove and heard Ron's story in eighth grade!! he had everyone of us fooled!! When he talked about being a POW he started crying and everything!! i know he had a POW/MIA flag on his car...i dont know about a license plate

THE HOUND SEZ: The Hound hopes this hasn't destroyed your faith in your fellow man, let alone veterans.

I also went to Oak Grove, and heard his story about 9 years ago. What a poor excuse for a man. I hope he gets everything that is coming to him... He even used to say that he worked at the school so that he could be outside most of the day (during recess) because of his years inside as a POW. This makes me so mad! the worst part is the teacher who organized the speech every year, because she is a wonderful woman, and had a brother who went to war. I bet she is very upset over this.

THE HOUND SAYS: It's a sad situation across the board. Guess Mr. Naden won't be appearing before eighth-graders next spring at Oak Grove and regaling them with phony war stories.

I go to Oak Grove, and I can't believe Mr. Naden would deceive us like this! So much for the "All I wanted as a POW was a cold glass of milk" crap he dished out to us. I always thought he looked a little shifty...but I hope he has learned a lesson and he won't show his face at Oak Grove again. He is shaming the real veterans who would die for people they don't even know, as long as it meant honoring their country and president.

THE HOUND SEZ: Hey, hey, Paula: Toughen up. You've learned a valuable lesson in life: Never trust anyone over 30. Bob Dylan said that 40 years ago and it still holds true. You are so, right, though when you note he has shamed the real veterans. Drive on, warrior!

Haha, I remember back in 8th grade, we had to do a Vietnam War Veterans project. Each student was asked to decorate a poster for someone in their family who had served in the war. Being a 1st generation immigrant, I didn't have anyone in my family who had served, so Ms. Mahoney asked me to speak with Ron. I actually spent time decorating a poster with an american flag with his name on it... and I remember he came up to me afterwards and said "Thank you... this means a lot to me" with a very deep, sincere (or so I thought) voice.

Oh, the irony!

THE HOUND SEZ: That's not irony, that's sick to deceive a youngster that way. You could have been warped for life, like Ron.
