Naperville’s American Idol star will be appearing at North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and will be presented with the key to the city by Mayor George Pradel. Glocksen will also speak to the crowd and answer questions, but it is unlikely that she will sing, according to North Central College spokeswoman Jennifer McGuffin.

“We are very excited and happy to help the city in her welcome home event,” McGuffin said. “It should be a great day for all of her fans.”

No parade will take place because of less-than-favorable weather forecasts.

The homecoming will also be part of a show for “American Idol Extra,” which will videotape the event for a future FOX project.

Originally scheduled earlier in the day, the event was pushed back to 3:30 to make it easier for local students to attend, McGuffin said.

Doors for the event will open at 3 p.m. and the event will end about 4:30 p.m. Seating is limited and will be a first-come first-serve basis.

I'd love to go see it - but, gee, like many others, I'm at work at 3:30 p.m. on a weekday! How about scheduling something like this for an evening? There are people older than fourteen who are fans of Gina Glocksen.

The Illinois House just voted to walk into SELECTED PRIVATE businesses and prohibit smoking, a perfectly legal activity. . They also voted to issue certificates to LAWBREAKERS, read illegals that have no social security number, which would allow them to receive a license to drive on Illinois roads. Now really, is taking the time to welcome Ms. Glocksen, a singer, more important than taking the time to focus on the loss of citizen rights on one hand and the pandering to lawbreakers on the other?

I’m sure Me. Glocksen is a very nice person but just exactly what are our priorities?

I will definitly try to make it. We love Gina!

I simply can't believe posts by people such as Jim Strnad.

Are you serious? According to people like this (and those who mentioned the war in Iraq in previous posts) entertainment and everything about it (the fun stuff in life) shouldn't be discussed or celebrated because we have more important pressing matters to discuss. This is so unreal to me. No one has said that Gina Glocksen or American Idol are more important or more relevant than the on going war or any other issues related to our society. We simply want to celebrate a local citizen and her accomplishments without being ridiculed for doing so. What's shocking to me is that someone like Jim would take the time to post a comment in a forum totally dedicated to Gina and her appearances on American Idol telling everyone that our priorities are misdirected. If you don't care to acknowledge and/or congratulate Gina that is fine, but don't insult others that do. It is possible to have fun between all the discussions about war and politics.

Hey, it's the blog administrator here. Some of the comments are getting WAY off track here. Please stick to the subject, which is Gina's journey on "American Idol."
