I remember seeing a flashy freshman guard named Vernon Randolph get some VARSITY minutes in late-season action during his first year at Warren High, and thinking he was going to be a really good one for the Blue Devils.
He was unbelievably quick and had a great shooting stroke.
Alas, it didn’t happen. Sadly, the kid has bounced back and forth between Round Lake and Warren high schools for the past three years, and only now has resurfaced as a member of the Round Lake Panthers hoop squad.
He had an 18-point night for the Panthers in a game on Saturday in the Grant tourney, and here’s hoping he has a productive final semester of his senior year, both on the court and in the classroom.
