Heard this on the radio after the Bears beat the New Orleans Saints on Sunday and it just seemed so silly ….
During the postgame show, the guy on the radio interviewed Brian Urlacher, and, after it was done, the radio guy gave Urlacher a $200 gift certificate to some store.
Like Urlacher, whose got to be worth how many zillion dollars, needs a $200 gift certificate to anywhere. Why not give $200 to the charity of Urlacher’s choice in his name?
This reminded me of the time after a Sox game last summer when, after a postgame interview with the $14 million man, Jim Thome, the radio guy gave Thome a $200 certificate to play golf at a resort in Wisconsin.
Heck, Thome could BUY the golf course. Again, why not donate the money to a charity of Thome’s choice, in Thome’s name?
Oh well.
