Besides us over here in this tiny corner of the world?
How sad was it that Round Lake High’s girls basketball team – which has lost only three times all season -- was seeded seventh in the IHSA Classs 4A Mundelein Sectional Complex?
OK, we’ll give you Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Warren and Grant as the top four.
But, Mundelein and Waukegan got the Nos. 5 and 6 seeds, even though Round Lake has a much better record than Mundelein and not onlyhk has a much better record than Waukegan, but just slaughtered Waukegan in a head-to-head battle on Waukegan’s home court last week.
Go figure?
The negative consequence for this might be that our Panthers will likely be sent to the same regional as No. 1-seed and two-time defending super-sectional champion Buffalo Grove.
That is no reward for a truly wonderful season.
What a shame … what a sham.
Coach Edge will tell you that unfortunately stuff like this has happened "BEE"fore. Been there, done that!
Unfortunately, some coaches didn't give Round Lake the respect they deserve. Past reputation and a relatively light tournament schedule did not work in RL's favor. Despite this, they are certainly more deserving than a No. 7 seed.
