With a 10-2 record and seemingly nine sure wins still on the regular-season schedule, let’s look at the games that will determine whether this is a boys basketball season to remember at North Chicago High, or just another nice season.
They are Jan. 11 at improving Libertyville, Feb. 9 at Waukegan, Feb. 21 at home against Lake Forest, and likely the North Suburban Conference championship game, at home, against Zion-Benton.
The guess here is that the Hawks will win two of the four and finish the regular season 21-4.
Give the Hawks a couple more wins in the regional and two in the sectional, and there’s the 25-win season … something that hasn’t happened at this school since the 1977-78 season under Tom Gregorin.
There's no reason to think that the hawks won't do it. This team is super talented, and if they play defense and stay hungry I don't think another team in the county south of zion can beat them.
They look good while running and gunning against he slowere teams but when they come up against waukegan, and zion they can't hold a candle, Coach Coleman eventually will have to teach them how to run aome plays.
Nothing against coach Coleman, but he needs to surround hisself with other coaches that can teach the game and motivate his players. He also can't continue to snatch his players out of the game for every mistake they make.
