What a difference one player can make

Having spent the first two-thirds of this prep boys basketball season lamenting the fact that Waukegan’s Bulldogs were one quality player short, we now can all hope and pray that the missing piece to the team’s puzzle has been found.

Don’t know where junior shooting guard Colin Nickerson was the first 15 games of the season ….

Well, yes we do know where he was. What we all wanted to know is where THIS Colin Nickerson was.

Suddenly, he’s been found. He’s had back-to-back games in which he’s scored more than 15 points – making him the needed additional scoring option on a team that has been carried to a disappointing record by Jereme Richmond and Rashaan Melvin.

Now that Waukegan has logged quality wins over Rockford Auburn and Niles West, it will be interesting to see if the momentum – and Colin’s improved play – continue this coming Friday in a road game against state-power New Trier.
